All the Fun

I should have captioned this on my phone where exactly I saw this flyer advertising and All Saints Day party, but it was probably on Tompkins while I was walking between the high school and where I typically park over there. “Come dressed as your favorite saint for All Saints Day party” isn’t an offer I’ve seen before.

There are plenty of religions and practices that avoid involvement with Halloween and costumes, but in the past, I’ve seen Halloween costumes come back out and go on sale for Purim, a Jewish holiday around March. This year, being in a much more Orthodox neighborhood, I did see kids going door-to-door, like they were trick-or-treating when I walked my dog on Purim.

All Saints Catholic Church is not far from this location, so that’s the best Google can do with pointing me to more information on this party. Having grown up Catholic, I’m not sure it’s about to take over Halloween as a tent pole holiday. Did you grow up with a costume holiday? Was it ever religious?
