Sunrise

Inspiration for our Christmas card

When we moved into our last place, I was totally hit with seasonal depression immediately because there was no daylight inside the apartment other than a few minutes at odd times. And there were so many windows!

There was a huge roof over the porch in the front of the house, so all that southern light was cut off. Nothing but shade all the time. The kitchen faced north, so the window might as well have not existed. Then the neighboring houses were too close. The kids room got some sun on the eastern side, but they were at school during those hours. On the other side of the house, the living room was blocked by a neighbor and no one but the cat was ever in the parents’ room when there was so much light at sunset.

To constantly have a view of the sky at our new place is wild. Social media keeps feeding me reels saying I need to start the day with sunshine instead of coffee, but the dog prefers I take the coffee outside and pet her in the sunshine. It works for me.
