Now that we’re in the throws of a heatwave, I’ve decided to finally finish writing this entry about the sweatshirt I wear on shoots…
After my husband designed a logo for Madeline Strum Studios, he announced it would look great on T-shirts. All my potential assistants and I should dress in team gear. But I’m not making that kind of money. So, I bought a kids’ quarter zip at a resale shop and added the simplified logo myself.
I laid the top flat on a table even though I made a mannequin of myself during pandemic. My duct tape mannequin is quite lumpy. She’d be really bad for painting. I also couldn’t find chalk at the time, too, so drawing on a black sweatshirt with pencil was laborious. A mannequin would have helped to see how the logo I was hand drawing needed to turn to lay correctly.
Maybe after the third shoot I wore this to, I looked down and thought my logo is crooked. A check in the mirror confirmed it’s not quite right.
Luckily I have found the chalk and know now to double check how a logo is set something person-shaped before applying custom paint for future projects.
Side note: I was so excited when I saw this burlap pattern tape at Walmart in their Duck Tape section. They had it on clearance five years ago, but rolls are still available for sale elsewhere.
